About Our Wines
2013
We are producing seven wines at this time, four red and three white. They are all carefully crafted with hands that really care, made with high quality grapes from our own estate vineyards plus grapes from other quality growers in the Texas Hill Country and West Texas. We also purchase grapes from growers we know out of state, especially when Texas is having a drought. Prior to the release of each new vintage we strive to make the best wines possible with the available grapes and blending combinations. We think you will enjoy the latest vintage wines.
- 2011 PINOT GRIGIO
Our Pinot Grigio wines have recently won Silver medals in Houston, San Antonio and San Francisco International Wine Competitions
This 2011 vintage is our fourth release of a Pinot Grigio. This is a grape we have wanted to grow and it is doing very well in the vineyard. We think you will find this wine to be very refreshing. It has delicate floral aromas and flavors of almond and pear. This wine will pare nicely with many food groups especially seafoods. This Pinot Grigio as well as our Sauvignon Blanc are made totally in the stainless steel tank. There is no oak on these wines. We prefer our white wines to retain their natural fruit flavors and have the crispness of cold processing without oak. Serve chilled below 50 degrees.
- · 2011 SAUVIGNON BLANC
Our Sauvignon Blanc wines have recently been awarded a Silver medal in San Francisco, and Bronze medals in Dallas and Lone Star International Wine Competition.
This clean, and crisp Sauvignon Blanc is very refreshing. The grapes were purchased from high quality growers. The wine is processed at the Singing Water Winery, processed in Stainless steel tanks, no oak. It is a light, crisp and refreshing wine with more character than most white wines. This 2011 vintage has floral aromas and flavors of melon, lemon/lime citrus and peach. It is a great wine in warm weather or serve anytime with light fare like salads or seafood, especially crab and shrimp, and by all means served chilled below 50 degrees.
- · 2011 MERLOT
Recent competitions have awarded our Merlots a Gold medal in Houston and Silver medals in Dallas and the Lone Star International wine competition.
This wine is a blend of 2011 Merlot grapes from three vineyards, Our Estate Merlot vineyard plus another in the Texas Hill Country and one in California. The result is a high quality blend of Merlot with concentrated flavors, deep color and full body. Our grapes are hand harvested and carefully sorted before crushing. The wine was aged in oak barrels for 12+ months and bottle aged prior to labeling and releasing for sale. This Merlot is has very soft tannins with fruity aromas and flavors of blackberry, raspberry, currants, vanilla, and a little clove like spice. It has a very smooth mouth feel and a nice lingering finish.
- · 2010 VINTNER’S RESERVE
Every recent vintage of our Reserve Cab/ Merlot blend has won awards in international competitions including Gold medals in San Francisco and the Lone Star Wine Competition in Texas.
Merlot grapes from our estate vineyard go into this reserve blend along with very high quality Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon from other vineyards in Texas and Temecula. The 2010 vintage was grown in another hot and dry year in the vineyard but we were able to produce very high quality grapes with high sugar content and rich fruity flavors. The Cab and Merlot were blended in a 55/45 ratio. The blend was aged 18 months in oak barrels, filtered and aged in the bottle.
This Reserve Merlot/Cab blend is for those who like a fine, rich, red wine with dark fruit flavors and a velvety smooth mouth feel. The tannins of the Cab have been tamed by the softness of the Merlot and long aging in oak. The aromas are of dark fruit, toasted oak and vanilla. You will also discover flavors of black cherry, plum and a little licorice.. This is our favorite wine with grilled beef.

Our FREEDOM wines have recently won Silver medals in San Francisco, Dallas and Houston
Freedom is made in recognition of those who have sacrificed to keep our country Free. It is a way to say thanks, to members of our military and their families. A portion of the proceeds from this wine are donated to the Fisher House and the USO.
Freedom is a premium blend of 40%, Syrah, 32% Cabernet Sauvignon and 28% Merlot. We use our estate Syrah and blend with the best wines available. That is our freedom of choice. Freedom is aged in oak barrels for 24 months. This bold, rich, full bodied wine has flavors of wild blackberry, toasty mocha and raspberry.
- 2011 SWEET LUPE
Sweet Lupe has won a Silver Medal in the San Francisco International Wine Competition and at the Lone Star International Wine Competition. Sweet Lupe was also featured in the Wall Street Journal wine column.
Sweet Lupe is a semi-sweet Merlot. She has about 3% sugar. Many of our customers expressed an interest in a sweeter wine, so we tried to please with a wine that is in between dry and sweet. Sweet Lupe is a good match with spicy foods and it is also a great dessert wine. This wine was named in honor of our Yellow Lab puppy “Lupe.” She is the essence of sweetness.
- 2012 HILL COUNTRY SUNRISE
Coming Summer 2013
SUNRISE is our newest wine. It is a blend of 65% Pinot Grigio, 25%Viognier, and 10% Sauvignon Blanc. All the grapes were harvested from four Texas Hill Country Vineyards including our estate Pinot Grigio vineyard. This is a unique blend that is as fresh and inspiring as the early morning sunrise in the Texas Hill Country. It has floral aromas with flavors of peach, pear, and tropical fruit. This wine was also processed totally in the stainless steel tank which allows the natural fruit flavors to stay fresh and crisp right into the bottle. We recommend serving with a nice chill at about 50 degrees.
Wine & Wildflower Trail
It’s that time of year. The best time of year. The weather is perfect and the wildflowers in bloom. You ask, what could make it better? Well the answer is the thing that makes everything better. Wine of course!

Wine & Wildflower Kick-off Tasting: Friday, April 5, 6-8pm, Dry Comal Creek Vineyards. Brand new this year, THCW will Kick-off each trail with a local wine tasting! Start the Wine & Wildflower Trail off in New Braunfels for the weekend, taste up to 6 local wineries at Dry Comal Creek Vineyards on Friday evening then take your time on the trail the next two days and really discover what the area wineries have to offer. For just $25, ($15 with your WWT ticket) tickets include 10 tastes, light appetizers and a casual, fun evening in the Hill Country! Local food trucks will be onsite for a heavier meal.
